PSL Awards Honours Players For The 2022/23 Season

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) awards on Sunday night, 28 May, honoured many but it was Orland Pirates Monnapule Saleng who walked away with the first big accolade of the evening.

As one of the best performers of the 2022/23 season – not to mention for his efforts in helping his team secure the silverware in October last year – the 25-year-old Bucs winger picked up the MTN8 Last Man Standing trophy.

The PSL’s Premiership Player of the Season went to Saleng too; he was also in the running for Footballer of the Season, but that award went to Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Teboho Mokoena; who was also honoured with the Midfielder of the Season.

Mokoena’s coach, Rhulani Mokwena, was crowned the PSL Coach of the Season after his men grabbed their sixth successive PSL title.

Sundowns continued their domination of the awards with Downs’ goalie, Ronwen Williams, catching the Goalkeeper of the Season award for his record-breaking 18 clean sheets; and his 21-year-old team mate, Cassius Mailula, receiving the Young Player of the Season trophy.

There were well-earned awards all around for Kaizer Chiefs, Stellenbosch FC, Cape Town Spurs, Cape Town City and several officials too! Next season is shaping up to be even more exciting.
